Dr. Uttam Das’s Unique Creation
From a young age, Dr. Uttam Das carried an irresistible desire to create something extraordinary. This passion led him to invent Mirror Language—a unique method of writing and reading in reverse, legible only with the help of a mirror. His remarkable creation etched his name and that of his birthplace—Silapathar, Dhemaji District, Assam—in the Limca Book of World Records, marking a new chapter in global innovation.
Early Life
- Born: September 14, 1976
- Birthplace: Kulamua village, Silapathar, Dhemaji district, Assam
- Parents: Jyotish Das (father) and Minati Das (mother)
As a child, Dr. Das enjoyed simple joys—sailing paper boats in the rain, collecting dew-soaked marigold flowers—but behind this playfulness grew a strong creative imagination that would later transform into innovation.

- Secondary Education: Silapathar Residential School
- Higher Studies:

At age 12, he began experimenting with writing letters in reverse. With perseverance, he eventually mastered the art of writing and reading English backwards. This evolved into Mirror Language, an artistic form of calligraphy where reversed text becomes readable when placed beside a mirror.
Career & Dedication
Though he worked at Goodricke Group Ltd. and ICICI, his passion for Mirror Language never faded. He left his secure corporate career to dedicate himself fully to this innovation.
In 2004, he wrote Swami Vivekananda’s Meditation and Its Preparation in Mirror Language—the first complete book ever written in this style. Soon after, he completed the entire Bible in seven volumes, which was later presented to the Pope through the Archbishop of Assam.
